Ally & Sally
Hi, meet the double act welcoming you to the store : Ally and Sally.
Sally, the runner of the two and Ally who does as he is told. Being married for 29 years does that to a man.
We launched Skedaddle Speyside back in 2023 after retiring and spending 2 years hosting running tours from our home. When we were offered the opportunity to buy a store in Fochabers it felt like a dream come true, and a natural progression to Sally’s love for running.
Our vision for the store was to create a space not only for runners to grab their next training shoe but for walkers, joggers, outdoor lovers to feel welcomed into the world of running. The social aspect for us was a huge goal too; hosting social runs and giving likeminded folks to connect over a jaunt and a cuppa.
Not always into running Sally knows the feeling of being a beginner all too well; ensuring every customer feels cared for, encouraged and confident with their purchase.
Previously working in a number of roles from banking to customer service while raising two children, our store owner only taking up running in the last 15 (ish) years. Initially to raise money for Diabetes UK , running London Marathon back in April 2012;
“ The London marathon - wow what an experience that was, London will always hold a special place with me, it was my first ‘big race’ experience and planted the seed to try another, and another... I have since ran all types of distances both on and off road, in the UK and abroad, from 5k’s to ultra-marathons and everything in between; the family joke I am like Forest Gump, I started running; I never stopped- It took me well into my adulthood but I finally found my thing. Now I get to share that thing with all of you” - Sally
Ally holds a background in football, refereeing and cycling. Previously gaining most of his fitness from work as a (now retired) cop, Ally loves to learn and has lots of knowledge to share when it comes to finding your perfect fit. He prides himself on supporting others, like Sally, will make sure every visitor to Skedaddle Speyside leaves confident and looked after.
In store you will also meet the two shop mascots ; Fergus and Meryl the golden cocker spaniels ; who mostly taking charge of stock and cuteness duties in the back room but are always up for a cuddle if you want one!
